A cyclonic circulation originating over north Pakistan and its vicinity, coupled with a trough in the middle and upper tropospheric westerlies, is set to influence weather patterns. Another Western Disturbance is anticipated to affect the Western Himalayan Region starting from April 10, 2024. The impact of these systems will lead to isolated light rainfall or snowfall over regions including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, and Himachal Pradesh on April 5, 6, 10, and 11. Additionally, Uttarakhand is expected to experience similar conditions over the next seven days. Rajasthan may also witness isolated light to moderate rainfall on the aforementioned dates.

Cyclonic Circulations Trigger Precipitation Across Northeastern and Eastern India

Persisting cyclonic circulations over north Bangladesh and east Assam, along with their neighboring areas, will bring widespread to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall, snowfall, and isolated thunderstorms across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura in the next seven days. Arunachal Pradesh may particularly experience isolated heavy rainfall or snowfall from April 5th to 9th, with the likelihood of very heavy falls on April 5 and 6. Furthermore, regions like Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Bihar, Gangetic West Bengal, and Odisha will also observe varying degrees of precipitation and thunderstorm activity during this period.

Wind Discontinuity Influences Central and Southern India

A trough or wind discontinuity spanning from East Vidarbha to the Comorin area across interior Karnataka and interior Tamil Nadu is anticipated to cause isolated light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in regions like Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Telangana, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam from April 5 to 11. Hailstorm activity is also expected at isolated places over several regions during specific dates mentioned.

Temperature and Weather Alerts

Maximum temperatures recorded yesterday ranged from 40-42°C in many parts of Vidarbha, Telangana, and Rayalaseema, among others, with departures above normal by 3-4°C at isolated pockets in various states. Meanwhile, minimum temperatures are above normal by 3-5°C at several places over Bihar and a few places over Jharkhand, among others. Heatwave conditions, warm nights, and hot, humid weather are forecasted for various regions, with specific warnings issued for isolated pockets across Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and other areas.
