The western disturbance along with a cyclonic circulation is likely to bring scattered rainfall across the country, while a gradual rise in temperatures may accelerate heat wave conditions across many regions, according to the India Meteorological Department.

Temperature Trends and Heat Wave Warnings

Temperature observations and forecasts indicate variations across different regions. While maximum temperatures are expected to gradually fall in northwest India, they will rise in central and south peninsular India, Gujarat, west India, and east India. Heatwave warnings have been issued for Odisha and coastal Andhra Pradesh, with hot and humid conditions prevailing in several other regions during the specified period.

In the next two days, there's a projected gradual decrease in temperature by 2-4 degrees Celsius across northwest India, with no significant fluctuations thereafter. Over the same period, central & south peninsular India and Gujarat are expected to maintain relatively stable maximum temperatures, followed by a gradual increase of 2-4 degrees Celsius in the subsequent three days.

Similarly, many parts of west India are likely to see no significant changes in maximum temperatures in the next 24 hours, followed by a 3 degrees Celsius rise over the following four days. Meanwhile, a gradual rise by 3-5 degrees Celsius is anticipated across many parts of east India in the next 4-5 days, while the rest of the country is expected to see no significant changes in maximum temperatures.

Intense Western Disturbance

An intense Western Disturbance, accompanied by a cyclonic circulation over Iran and a trough aloft in the middle and upper tropospheric westerlies, is expected to impact northwest India till Monday. Moisture influx from the Arabian Sea will contribute to widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in regions including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Scattered Rainfall across the Country

Scattered to fairly widespread rainfall along with thunderstorms and gusty winds is predicted for west Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, and Rajasthan during the same period. Additionally, isolated to scattered rainfall is anticipated in several regions, including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Coastal Karnataka, with varying intensities of thunderstorms and gusty winds.

Hailstorms and Heavy Rainfall in North India

Certain regions, such as Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, may experience isolated hailstorms, while heavy rainfall and snowfall are expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and Himachal Pradesh. Furthermore, dust storms are likely in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, with strong surface winds expected in Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and Uttar Pradesh in the following days.

In northeast India, cyclonic circulations over central and northeast Assam will bring scattered to widespread rainfall and snowfall, with isolated thunderstorms and lightning, over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and neighboring regions. Isolated heavy rainfall is also predicted in Arunachal Pradesh and Assam on specific dates.
