India's Energy Transition to Generate 3.2 million Jobs by 2050: MoS, New & Renewable Energy

According to the minister, economic growth, rising prosperity, a rising rate of urbanization, and rising per capita energy consumption are the primary contributors to the country's rising energy demand.

Union Minister Bhagwanth Khuba emphasised the importance of energy transition in light of rising demand, which can eventually help create 3.2 million jobs by 2050, on Tuesday. "Energy transition is an important step to meet rising demand and can benefit the economy by creating jobs, which are expected to employ 3.2 million people by 2050," Khuba said.

He noted that the transition will help reduce reliance on imported fuel, which will improve the trade balance and reduce GHG emissions.

According to the minister, economic growth, rising prosperity, a rising rate of urbanization, and rising per capita energy consumption are the primary contributors to the country's rising energy demand.

"With the global economy recovering in the post-pandemic period," Khuba said, "I urge all of you to seize this opportunity to redefine the global supply chain and work towards making India a net energy exporter."

During the event, Brazil's Ambassador to India, Andre Aranha Correa do Lago, stated that Brazil sees India as a potential manufacturing export partner for solar panels as it plans to install 52 GW of solar.

He suggested that India could benefit from Brazil's experience with ethanol fuel in order to build and boost its own industry.

In its transportation matrix, the country has the highest proportion of ethanol consumption. In addition, approximately 85 percent of the Brazilian fleet runs on flex-fuel.

Green hydrogen, according to Minister Counsellor, Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark, is emerging as one of the most promising propositions around the world for moving toward green fuels.

He noted that India and Denmark have agreed to collaborate on green hydrogen development programmes in order to decarbonize the economy.

The conference and exhibition's partner states are Madhya Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, while partner countries include Denmark, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Brazil, and Japan. During the conference, a manufacturing knowledge paper for the global market will be released. Wind, solar biomass, hydrogen, storage, and distribution of renewable energy systems will be prioritized.
