The Uttar Pradesh government has introduced a substantial subsidy scheme for farmers just ahead of Holi, marking a major step toward improving the agricultural industry. The initiative, which commenced on the 27th of February, focuses on providing subsidies for solar pumps, a measure expected to greatly benefit farmers across the state.

Under the leadership of the Yogi government, Uttar Pradesh has embarked on a transformative journey to support its agrarian community. The provision of 54,000 solar pumps on subsidy, as part of the PM Kusum Scheme, highlights the government's commitment to fostering agricultural prosperity in the state. These subsidies will be allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis, emphasizing the need for prompt action by farmers to avail themselves of this opportunity.

How to Apply for Solar Pump Subsidies

Farmers interested in harnessing the benefits of solar pump subsidies need to complete an online application process.  Interested farmers first have to visit the official website of the Agriculture Department at www.agriculture.up.gov.in.

Registration: Upon accessing the website, farmers must register themselves. Following registration, applicants can proceed to book a solar pump grant online by clicking on the 'Booking for solar pump on grant' option.

Token Deposit: Successful booking requires the deposit of a nominal token amount of ₹5000 online. It's important to note that bookings will be made on a first-come-first-serve basis, so prompt action is advised.

Boring Requirements: To ensure the suitability of the bore for the allocated pump, specific guidelines regarding boring requirements have been outlined. Bore specifications include a minimum diameter of 4 inches for 2 HP, 6 inches for 3 and 5 HP, and 8 inches for 7.5 HP and 10 HP pumps. Failure to meet these requirements during verification may lead to the loss of the token amount.

Verification and Deposit: Upon successful verification, farmers are required to deposit the entire amount within 14 days to avoid automatic cancellation of their application. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of the application and loss of the token money.

The subsidy on solar pumps extended by the Uttar Pradesh government represents a significant shift towards sustainable agricultural practices. By leveraging solar energy for irrigation systems, farmers can reduce dependency on conventional energy sources, thereby cutting operational costs and enhancing productivity.

With subsidies being allocated on a first-come-first-serve basis, farmers are encouraged to seize this opportunity right away. Solar-powered irrigation not only benefits individual farmers but also contributes to a greener and more prosperous future for generations to come.
