Weather Update: Spring Season Brings Temperature Rise in Capital, Rainfall in Northeast, Humidity in South

With the advent of the spring season in India, upcoming days hold a mix of precipitation, snowfall, and contrasting temperatures across the country, according to the latest release by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather agency has predicted a maximum temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 9 degrees Celsius for today in New Delhi. The maximum temperature in the capital city is likely to rise to 26 degrees Celsius on Thursday, while the minimum temperature may stay the same with a clear sky.

Rainfall in Northern Regions

A fresh western disturbance, appearing as a trough in the middle tropospheric westerlies is likely to influence several states till Thursday, the IMD said. Residents of Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad,  and Himachal Pradesh should brace themselves for isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall and snowfall during this period. Additionally, Uttarakhand may experience spells of rainfall and snowfall in some places.

Cyclonic Circulation and the Northeast 

Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim may witness rainfall till Saturday. Additionally, Arunachal Pradesh is anticipated to experience isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall and snowfall over the next seven days, the weather agency said. Simultaneously, a cyclonic circulation is expected to bring isolated rainfall to Odisha till Friday.

Hot and Humid in Southern India 

In contrast to the precipitation and snowfall in a few regions, hot and humid weather is expected to prevail over southern parts of the country such as Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala till Friday. Residents are advised to take necessary precautions to beat the heat during this period.
